"Make New Friends, but Keep the Old..."

2022 year in Review from Executive Director Diana Flenard

MARC is 56 years old and going strong.

It was the year we lost 4 members of the MARC family to various diseases. Then two members moved away. All of them lived in our Group Homes and so it was a heavy loss.  We did gain new family members so that was a blessing to all

MARC also had many staff changes.  Some were tragic and others were so folks could move on to other things in their lives. Some old staff returned and some new staff came on board to more than fill in any holes.  It feels as if we have the best staff ever which is evidenced by the way the clients are happy, healthy and safe.

MARC is finally working past Covid and all the havoc it played on everyone’s lives.  We saw one time funding from the Cares Act, an increase in our rates for most of our services, new grant opportunities and increased donations.  It gave us the funds to reward those who have been with us through thick and thin while allowing us to bring on exciting new people.

We made it through Hurricane Ian without having to leave the Keys.  Everyone stayed in their own homes and got to sleep in their own beds as we weathered the storm with minimal damage.

We went back to our pre-Covid fundraising events and each one has gotten bigger and better.

MARC added new board members and worked on how they can support MARC.

MARC received 95.6% on our Qlarant review and a clean financial audit.

We are ever evolving and look forward to the year ahead.
