Horticulture
Our Horticulture Program is one of the most unique and rewarding aspects of MARC's Adult Day Training Program. Clients gain hands-on experience by growing plants from seedlings, repotting, watering, pruning, and caring for them as they flourish.
Our organic garden provides fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs, many of which are used in the daily offerings at the Rainbow Café, while others are sold in the MARC Plant Store. Clients also play an active role in the Plant Store by tagging new inventory, arranging displays, watering plants, and assisting with the daily care of our nursery.
Through these meaningful activities, our clients develop valuable vocational skills, build confidence, and take pride in contributing to their community.
Plant Store
Welcome to the MARC Plant Store
Located at 1401 Seminary Street (at the corner of Seminary Street and Tropical Street) in Key West, the MARC Plant Store is more than just a neighborhood nursery—it's a place where beautiful plants, meaningful employment, and community come together.
Every purchase directly supports MARC's mission of providing life-enhancing services to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities throughout Monroe County. The Plant Store also serves as a vocational training site where MARC clients gain valuable hands-on experience in horticulture, retail operations, and customer service. Clients help propagate plants from seedlings, repot and care for inventory, water and maintain the nursery, tag merchandise, arrange displays, and assist with the daily operations of the store. These experiences help build confidence, develop job skills, and foster greater independence.

Seasonal
Pumpkin Patch
We open our Pumpkin Patch yearly during the month of October. We carry pumpkins and gourds of all sizes and prices.
Christmas Tree Lot
We open our Christmas tree lot on the Saturday afternoon following Thanksgiving. We carry trees of all sizes, wreaths, and poinsettias.
The SOS Eco Farm
On April 4, 2023, we had our official ribbon cutting for the SOS Eco Farm. This is an Urban Tower Garden and a collaboration with the SOS Foundation.
The SOS Eco Farm educates our community about sustainable agriculture and provides healthy produce for individuals and families who do not have adequate access to fresh food.
The SOS Eco Farm is maintained by SOS Staff, MARC House staff, and clients, and it is open for the community to visit and learn all about aeroponic farming systems. More information on the Mission of the SOS Eco Farm can be found here: SOS Eco Farm
